Laura Young runs Mobile Pottery Lessons through her small business Arts Programming Support, LLC. Laura teaches beginners and families the basics of hand building and throwing on the pottery wheel. She also works with rural communities in Oregon to create  community clay programs, most recently with the Confederated Tribe of Warm Springs. 

Since 2018, Laura has provided clay experiences to residents at Oregon Veteran’s Home, supporting Veterans in memory care. She’s also an ArtsCare teaching artist, a program of Samaritan Hospital Foundation. Laura has worked with people of all ages, abilities and levels. She was the volunteer ceramic teacher at Corvallis Waldorf School for 8 years serving grades 1 thru 8.  She has taught classes at The Arts Center, Maxtivity Creative Space in Philomath, as well as in parks, homes and farmers markets in the mid-Willamette Valley and Central Oregon Coast. Pre-pandemic, Laura had a teaching studio in Albany, OR. Post-pandemic she works out of her home studio in Corvallis, creating clay activity kits and rainbow cups and offering private lessons.  She also rents out mobile pottery wheel kits to families and groups in the mid-Willamette Valley and beyond.

Laura’s been making pottery for over 25 years since she learned to throw in high school. She has a Certificate in Art Therapy, a B.A. in Studio Art & a Master’s Degree in Arts Administration. She also holds a Certificate in Museum Studies. Laura is skilled and experienced at teaching beginner & immediate level students of all ages. She’s adaptive & responsive to maximize student learning, skill-building & creative expression. Laura helps bring out individual & group potential.
